40 Euros Fine (No, that is not fine…)
So you have to validate a train ticket at the validation machine before boarding the trains in Germany!
- that is, if you do not have a semester ticket (only for students). There is a day ticket priced at 6 Euros, as well as a 2 hr ticket at 2.10 Euros.
I only found that out after we (my buddy n I) were stopped by the conductor on a short journey of about three to four stops (how unlucky can i get?). The conductor made us get off the train and gestured in German! Of course, my buddy saved the day. I don’t understand what he said, but the 40 euros penalty fee was waived and I “earned” a 2 hr train pass (or was it a day pass? i dont understand the german text!). Maybe I was lucky after all.
It was a close shave indeed. Cause we met a conductor who was willing to close one eye and gave us a warning. Gee, imagine forking out 40 Euros or 80 SGD on the first day!
Nevertheless, I was so tempted to NOT validate my train pass every time i board the train cause I stupidly bought a set of 4 2 hour passes. Come one, if one is travelling around the whole day, shouldnt one get a day pass? It is just commonsense, no? I just lack that commonsense -.-“
