Berlin Thoughts #1
- You can get around almost everywhere with the very efficient train system called S-Bahn, U-Bahn.
Just get a student semester ticket worth 52 Euros (requires a Photo and a letter of authorisation from the school). And you got to bring three important things around: Semester Ticket, Letter, “Train ID” - cause one validates the other!
Oh yes, the trains work 24 hours on Friday and Saturdays. So you can party till late and still go home =D. - Laundry in halls usually require a 2 Euro coin (charges may vary) and there is additional charges for using the dryer.
No, there are no areas for you to hang your clothes. Maybe it is just my hostel? - There are many options for prepaid cards and here are some of those I’ve checked out:
T mobil - 9c/min or sms, 10 euros value, costs 10 euros
Aldi - 3c/min or sms to fellow users, 11c/min or sms to non-aldi users, 10 euros value, costs 12.99 euros
Klarmobil - 9c/min or sms, not sure about the cost/value!
O2 - 15c/min or sms….and I dint bother to find out already. - German consumers are environmentally friendly.
Most of their trash bins have separated compartments for paper and plastic. Most of the supermarkets do not provide plastic bags/carriers. And you get a rebate when return plastic bottles or beer bottles to the supermarkets!
So if you pick up enough empty beer bottles on the street, you prob end up with free beer. Beer is cheaper than water though, ahah. - You get live music on the trains. Oh yea, buskers will just get on the train and busk suddenly. The general level of quality is a lil above average. After the performance, they will move around to collect money (in appreciation of their music.)
